Jos & Jo's Trip to Europe

Rain, Rain, Rain.....

We started the week with free tickets to the Chilean Festival at Sandown Park, highlighting Chilean and Latin American culture including salsa and folk music groups and Latin American arts and crafts.  It was a great day experiencing our multi-cultural community.  Unfortunately I didn't take any photos of Chilean or Latin American dance groups, only this Polynesian group:

It has rained almost all week, with above average rainfall.  Our water storages have risen for the 12th week in a row, but levels are still much lower than at the same time last year.

The AFL Grand final on Saturday 26th September, saw St Kilda battle it out with Geelong on one of our coldest and wettest Grand Finals on record.  Here is a pic of the 2008 Premiership Cup won by Hawthorn:

Bad luck for the Saints who were my favourite to win, I was hoping they would break their 43 year drought from when they won their last premiership in 1966.  They put in a valiant effort, and anyone questioning how much St Kilda gave in the Grand Final only need look to Brendon Goddard, who played out the game with a fractured collarbone and a broken nose!

Nick Riewoldt and Harry Taylor in action:

Here are a few more pictures of the house, not much progress since last week, probably because of all the rain.  You can see they have added framework to the top, ready for the 1st floor:

A tip for followers:  You can click on the photos for a larger view.

Week 6 - The Frame is on its Way Up!

Jos was up nice and early on Saturday 19th September to trim one of the trees so that it wouldn't be in the way when the frame was constructed, and he wasn't expexting this!  Construction is really moving quickly:

Maddy's room on the left, entrance in the middle and garage on the right:

This is the (very large) garage and retaining wall at the side - I think we could almost fit 3 cars in here:

Front entrance:

Theatre room at the back, dining room and kitchen at the front:

Loungeroom with alfresco at the back:

Maddy's room - you can see the walk-in robe on the left and ensuite on the right:

From the side of the house, there is a small alcove where the laundry will open onto:

Slab Preparation

We decided to visit our land on 29th August to see if any progress had been made and found the builders had been hard at work creating sand castles:

On Friday 4th September the slab had been poured.  This is the builder finishing off the slab the next day:

Oscar and Jasper hugging each other - they can't wait to move into our new house too!
