Jos & Jo's Trip to Europe

They Have Started!

13th August - they have started to excavate the land:

Can you see the drainage pit lid in the middle of the photo? This is going to cause us some grief (see my post at the end)...

On 16th August, a little more progress, and some rain:

If you haven't guessed already, the soil is all clay.

The builder told us to contact Yarra Valley Water to obtain a quote to have the drainage pit lid lowered so it would level with the driveway.  We were told it would cost us somewhere between $5,000 - $10,000 - are they serious? We have two options - construct the driveway beside the drainage pit so it does not need to be lowered - or pay the money to have it lowered.  We are looking at options and have also contacted National Builders to see if there is a way around this.

August News (Updated)

Jos and I purchased our land in October 2008 to build our dream home. This is a picture of our land in Mooroolbark, which is 804sqm:

And this is Maddy and Jo, standing where the driveway will be:

We are building a Buckingham 360E with National Builders. Contracts were signed on the 30th January 2009, two sets of preliminary plans prepared before agreeing on finals. After about 8 variations, the finals were sent to the builder in April.

Who is this??

Jos mowing the lawn for the builders who will start on 13th August (do you have lawns in Holland??!!)

On Sunday 9th August, we went for a 6km walk around Wilsons Promontory. Here are a few photos:

A prize for those who can guess what sort of animal this is (because we don't know....)

Going Mexican at a local restaurant - isn't he handsome?? (thought I would throw this one in...)
